Teck Coal Limited filed a petition with the Board of Environmental Review in June to evaluate whether a new rule that sets a water quality standard for selenium in Lake Koocanusa, is more stringent than the federal guideline. The Board seeks written comment from interested persons as to the process the Board should undertake in reviewing the stringency of ARM 17.30.632. More information and how to comment is available here. The EQC and the Water Policy Interim Committee formed a joint subcommittee to review these standards as part of HJ37.
